Tornado's Red Urethane compound ball. Virtually indestructible. These are official Tornado balls and a must for your Tornado tables.

See also... Tornado's new "White Ball" - What's up with the New White Ball? Tornado created a "white" version of their original ball specifically for "black light kit". Some folks like it on their non-black light table for better visibility. The White ball contrasts great against the Green Surface, Black and Yellow playing figures.

1.  What and where is NY Metro Foosball?
        How do I get info on NY/NJ Tornado Foosball Tournaments?

Kenneth A. Farnum, Jr. (aka:
NYMetroFoosball@aol.com),
founder of  N.Y. Metro Foosball / Table Soccer (aka: NYMetroFoosball@aol.com),
has been running tournaments in the New York City metro-area since 1995.
(Not for profit, but for the love of the game!)

for more info: Ken's CellPhone: (917) 805-4699

ALWAYS check
http://NYMetroFoosball.i8.com
for nightly foos, attendance results, final confirmations and other related info.

Please let us know if you're looking to play and need some foosers.
Also, let us know if you see an unlisted foosball location with a Tornado or a non-Tornado table.

Ken can also reached at...  NYFoosLine...  (718) 885-2480
    (don't use OLD pager): (800) 998-5794

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. What does B-Y-O-P & D.Y.P. stand for and how much does it cost  per/player?
D.Y.P. (Draw Your Partner) Entrance fee is usually $ 10/player.
(you don't need to bring a partner; a random draw for a partner is held)
B-Y-O-P (Bring Your Partner) Entrance fee is usually $ 10/player.
(except where noted as higher)
(
come even if you don't have a partner; someone will usually need one.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. How does a D.Y.P. Tournament work ? Is it mandatory to draw a partner, or can I bring a partner?

You are always encouraged to bring new players with you.
However, there is no guarantee that the two of you will play together,
since it is mandatory to draw a random partner for the D.Y.P. Tournaments.

In the case of an odd number of players, we draw a random player to play on the odd team.
In the event of a match where a player has to 'play themselves',
       the player's partners shall play each other a singles match.

When we exceede 6 teams in a single table venue,
we convert the loser's bracket to one single game - 'race to 7'.

If it's a 6-6 tie, you must win by 2 points.

If both teams make it to a 10-10 score, 11 is the Final Sudden-Death finsh.

'2 out 3' matches resume in the loser's bracket at the semi-final level or one match before the semi-final level).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. Are there only enough spots for 6 teams and does it fill up quickly?
The 6 team minimum payout is posted so that everyone knows
the minimum payout (provided there are 6 teams!)
We average 5 to 8 teams for a DYP/B-Y-O-P.
If anyone is not present at the time of the draw for the tournament
(and/or has not paged me to let me know they will be no more than 20 minutes late)
they will not be able to enter once we have done the draw and started the first match.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5. Are there ever any Singles Foosball Tournaments held in NYC?

Singles Tournaments are run every few months.
If you are interested, e-mail ken at:
NYMetroFoosball@aol.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ken - here is the next part of the "foosball meets computer" saga
Kiro, the Foosball Robot
Toys | Posted by michael on 10:08 AM May 29th, 2003
from the he-shoots-he-scores dept.
JasonFleischer writes "Although the official line from the RoboCup competition is that robots should be ready to challenge humans on the soccer field by the year 2050, we don't have to wait that long to see man-machine competition in the bar. Researchers in Germany have developed a table football (foosball, table soccer, whatever) robot. The human challenger(s) take the red team, while the machine works the blue side, using an overhead video camera to see what's happening on the table. The conference paper shows that while the machine generally wins against the normal bar-amatuer it has no chance against a human grandmaster. But these kinds of things are always improving, after all look how big a deal the man-machine chess competition turned out to be. So perhaps the current table football world champions should be watching their backs."
Foosball show.....on  every two weeks...
From: aimanpoor@hotmail.com  (Observer)
Hello Friends,
We wanted to let you know that
www.quebecfoos.com
made history as we offered REAL TIME, STREAMING VIDEO of 30 frames per second
to anyone who wanted to watch a show being broadcasted out of montreal,
LIVE on the INTERNET.
We got a friend of ours to direct the upcoming one, and the show is based on TABLESOCCER,
covering all tables, putting people up to speed with regards to their own tables, instructional tips,
trick shots, and of course a question and answer period. Of course as we are now
offering this to our players, we saw incredible support from abroad, having people from South Dakota,
O
klahoma city, and Oxford England show up to watch.
I really feel this is great for table soccer, but i'm unsure on how we
can get the word out about this new AMAZING possibility which is now
available to all players across the world. You seem to be liked by
many people in the discussion forums, I am in contact with many
people, and I am wondering what the best way we can organize a MASSIVE
LAUNCH WORLDWIDE on all internet sites, to make sure this service, and
LIVE FOOSBALL is the greatest thing to hit the market, in respect to exposure.
What do you think bud? I mean imagine if all tables would converge,
send the documents needed to be read, and then have them READ LIVE on
the net to about a few thousand players worldwide watching......I mean the possibilties are there.
Get back to me, and I hope you enjoy the shot, one of the very many shots we have invented here....
Yours Truly,
Adam Imanpoor
President of the Quebec Table Soccer Association
